3 Reasons You Can’t Miss America’s River Festival

America’s River Festival is a celebration of live music, premier craft beers and an electric atmosphere. The biggest country and rock fest in the tri-state region, America’s River Festival has been attracting music goers to the Port of Dubuque since 2005. In 2016 alone, the festival brought in roughly 12,000 folks from over 500 cities across the U.S. and Canada in just two days.

Curious about the hype? Here are 3 reasons why you should attend this year’s America’s River Festival, June 8 —10.

1. You can see Nitty Gritty Dirty Band perform — for free

What’s better than a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert? A free one! This year, organizers are adding an extra day (Thursday, June 8) featuring the classic country band to the festival’s traditional two-day line-up.

“We really want to give back to our loyal patrons and festival goers by offering them a free concert,” says Adele Herman, marketing assistant for the Dubuque Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Free concerts are rare in this industry, especially for such a high-quality band.”

2. Tickets won’t break the bank

No need to stress about tipping your budget — all-day general admission tickets are just $25 and children 12 and under are free in the General Admission area. VIP tickets, reserved seating and weekend passes are also available at budget-friendly prices. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the gate depending on availability.

With other chart-topping headliners like The Guess Who (“Shakin’ All Over”), Styx (“Lady”) and Old Dominion (“Snap Back”) expected to storm the stages, it’s no wonder why the festival is one of Iowa’s most popular summer concert events.

3. Two words: The Tappening

The festival’s craft beer event, known as The Tappening, allows beer lovers to sample the flavors of summer and meet the brew masters behind the magic. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, The Tappening serves as the kickoff party for Saturday night’s activities for the third year running. More than 100 brews from more than 25 brewers will be featured at the event.

Last year brought some of the best craft breweries in the tri-state area, as well as big hitters from around the U.S., including Bells, Deschutes and Sierra Nevada.

Tickets to America’s River Festival are on sale now. VIP, Tappening VIP, Saturday Reserved Seating and Saturday Party Pit tickets are in limited supply and tend to sell out quickly, so book your trip to the Port of Dubuque today.
